A Comfortable Three Points - Trafford 3 v 1 Ossett Albion

Trafford recorded a comfortable 3-1 win over Ossett Albion in their Evo-Stik League Division One North fixture on Tuesday night but the victory was tarnished by the late dismissal of star keeper Tom Read.

Garry Vaughan's young side were looking to make amends for Saturday's disappointing 2-2 draw at Salford and made the perfect start when, after just two minutes, Tom Bailey seized upon a weak back pass and cooly guided the ball past Luke Herriott.

Skipper Joe Shaw then struck a ground shot inches wide from 30 yards before Ossett created their first chance of any note in the 10th minute when Richard Tracey volleyed just over.
Trafford keeper Tom Read produced a smart save to deny Dale Kelly and on the half hour mark Tommy Turner almost doubled the home sides lead when he dispossessed goalkeeper Herriott but saw his goalbound shot cleared off the line.
The second half began in exactly the same manner as the first with a goal for Trafford in the second minute, Warren Collier making a great run down the left flank and floating in a fine cross that Danny White headed comfortably home from six yards.

Tommy Turner was then denied by Herriott but made it 3-0 in the 61st minute when he beautifully rounded the Ossett keeper and slotted the ball home from an acute angle.
Trafford were now coasting to victory but in the 78th minute Tom Read reacted foolishly to a foul by Shane Kelsey and was sent off for pushing the opposition striker.
Centre half Chris Lawton donned the keeper's jersey but was picking the ball out of the net four minutes later when Ossett were controversially awarded a penalty following an alleged foul by Paul Ashton. Michael Senior stepped forward to convert the spot kick.

Despite this setback, Trafford's ten men held on to their lead without further alarm and so find themselves in fifth place in the league table with four points from their two games.
