Gale force winds ruin game - Garforth Town 2 v 1 TRAFFORD
Trafford slipped to a 2-1 defeat on Wednesday night in a game that was ruined by a gale force wind.
Garry Vaughan's side kicked off with the wind in their favour and after six minutes Joe Shaw blasted in a drive from 25 yards that was well held by Ben Higginson.
Warren Collier mis-kicked in front of goal and Joe Shaw saw his header disallowed as Trafford continued to pour forward but they failed to capitalise on the favourable elements until a minute before the interval when midfielder John Buckley crashed a 30 yard screamer into the top corner.
The visitors defended gallantly for long spells in the second half but Garforth levelled in the 72nd minute when Adam Priestley crossed and substitute Paul Walker netted from 15 yards.
Trafford keeper Greg Hall produced a magnificent save in the 80th minute to deny Chris Howarth but he was powerless to prevent Darren Kelly securing all three points just a minute later when the busy striker cooly converted from six yards.
The final whistle arrived to signal a welcome relief for both players and spectators in a game that was somewhat of a lottery due to the weather conditions.
