Table leaders take the three points in front of 724 - TRAFFORD 0 v 2 Chester
A dominant first half performance by table toppers Chester paved the way for a comfortable victory at Shawe View on Saturday.
Backed by the vast majority of the crowd of 724, the visitors stormed ahead after just 45 seconds when a long throw in by James McCarthy caught the Trafford defence completely unaware and Iain Howard stole in to head past Aaron Tyrer.
It was all Chester with Howard pulling the strings in midfield and they doubled their advantage in the 19th minute when skipper George Horan headed home a Tom Field corner with Trafford's marking once again non-existent.
Seven minutes later it was almost three when Trafford right back Keith Wedge headed against his own crossbar and Chester's aerial superiority was underlined once again in the 29th minute when Michael Wilde headed a right wing corner inches over the crossbar.
As half time approached, the visitors squandered further chances to extend their lead with Robbie Booth firing over from just inside the penalty area and Iain Howard blasting a shot into the side-netting after a neat move down the left.
As a spectacle, the second half was a great disappointment with little goalmouth action although Trafford's Warren Collier saw a 50th minute snapshot gathered by Richard Whiteside in what was the home sides only effort on goal.
At the other end Chester substitute Greg Stones missed a great chance to make it three shooting against the foot of the post when completely unmarked ten yards from goal, and ex Trafford midfielder Bradley Barnes struck a magnificent drive from 20 yards that Tyrer spectacularly pushed behind for a corner.
Trafford fought to the end with Jamie Baguley and Tunji Moses working tirelessly in midfield but they were unable to break down a well-drilled and superbly organised visiting defence that has conceded just 15 goals in 20 league games.
Garry Vaughan's young side will be hoping to get back to winning ways on Saturday when they travel to play bottom of the league Leigh Genesis at Atherton LR's ground, kick off 3 p.m. and then on Tuesday night they entertain Mossley at Shawe View in a league fixture kicking off at 7-45 p.m.
